Prof.Dr.-Ing. Christof Wittwer is head of the “Power Electronics, Networks and Intelligent Systems” division at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar EnergySystems ISE and holds an honorary professorship at the Faculty for Environmental and Natural Resources at the University of Freiburg. He was a research assistant at the Technical University of Karlsruhe from 1995 and received his doctorate with distinction in 1999. Since 1994, he has been working in various functions at Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg. In 2003, he became the group leader “Operations Management and Control Engineering” and from 2012 he is department head of “Intelligent Energy Systems”. In 2014, he received the honorary professorship from the University of Freiburg. He is responsible for teaching the “Smart Grids” module in the “REM Renewable Energy “Engineering Systems” master’s course. Wittwer’s research focuses on intelligent power grids and energy management systems, as well as modelling and simulation. He supervises numerous master and doctoral students as part of his professorship.
